Features

Spark resistant drum carrierMorse Model 185AM below-hook drum carrier with spark resistant parts allows you to lift, move and pour a drum weighing up to 800 Lb. (363 kg), or a half-full* drum up to 500 Lb. (227 kg) Model 185AM below-hook drum carrier is equipped with the MORcinch Drum Holder to handle a 55-gallon (208 liter) steel drum with 22" to 23.5" (56 to 59.7 cm) outside diameter between the ribs. It also accepts MORcinch Options to handle virtually any drum on the market.

The KEY ADVANTAGE of Model 185AM is that it has spark resistant parts intended to reduce the possibility of mechanical sparks as a possible source of ignition. They are not a substitute for grounding and bonding for preventing static electricity discharges. Metals such as Monel are used in the drum holder bands and at the lifting eye. Stainless steel chain is used instead of carbon alloy steel chain across the front of the drum. Pull chain for the tilt-control drive has brass chain substituted for the steel chain.

It's a Cinch to handle almost any drum, with the
MORcinch Drum Handling System

Drum Handling System

  • Automatically cinches for 22" to 23.5" (56 to 59.7 cm) diameter steel or fiber drum
  • Accepts MORcinch Options to handle your plastic drum
  • Accepts Diameter Adaptors for your smaller drums
  • Flexible chain cover helps protect the drum sidewall
  • Includes safety covered gears for your protection
  • Has durable stress-relief weld joints for years of service

To load the drum lifter, simply move the drum holder against the drum and cinch the chain. Lift the drum and rotate drum 360 degrees in either direction. Drum can be held at any tilt angle. The standard drum tilt control is a chain wheel with 12' (3.66 meter) chain loop.

The slots in the bottom of the frame can be used as a chain lock to prevent the drum from tilting. To do so, crisscross the chain and insert one side into each slot. If the drum handler is equipped with the MORStop Tilt-Brake Option, braking is immediate and automatic. To have MORStop Tilt-Brake Option installed on your new Kontrol-Karrier, order Option # 3900i-P.

Important noteIMPORTANT - It is critical to use the correct holder and accessory to lift your drum type and dimensions.

This below-hook drum lifter complies with ANSI/ASME B30.20 standard for mechanical, below-the-hook lifting devices as it applies to the following:

  • Rated load markings and unit identification
  • Minimum design safety factor of 3, based on yield strength, for load bearing structural components
  • Welding is performed by certified welders who have passed the ANSI/AWS D14.1 welding qualification test
